Goal

Informed partnered with Forgotten Voices to provide an independent examination of the effectiveness of Forgotten Voice’s programming. From that assessment, Informed provided recommendations on how to improve program implementation and evaluation. In doing so, the assessment guided the creation of Forgotten Voice’s 2020-2025 strategic plan.

objectives

The program assessment had two objectives:

  1. Carry out a comprehensive review of the effectiveness of the program in community-based orphan care.

  2. Examine the current custom plan project lifecycle and develop recommendations for improvement.

Activities

Informed designed and carried out a mixed-methods assessment including a document review of church partner custom plan projects, progress reports, term reports, past evaluation reports, and current reporting and monitoring tools. In addition the team developed:

  • Evaluation framework

  • Community-based data collection tools including the child participatory H-method

  • Human Interest Stories

  • Case Studies

  • Digital survey for leadership board members

From these data sources, the team carried out qualitative and quantitative data analysis to compile the assessment findings and provide strategic guidance for strengthening programming and amplifying impact. Recommendations covered topics of accountability, partnerships, improvements in processes, tools, and capacity as well as reporting methods.
