Background
The June 2018 Charlevoix Declaration on Quality Education for Girls, Adolescent Girls, and Women in Developing Countries was a commitment by G7 country leaders to promote and improve learning outcomes for both refugees and host communities, while also working to reduce the time children and youth, especially girls, are out of school as a result of conflict and displacement. The Declaration resulted in a total pledge of nearly $3.6 billion USD from 10 country donors. The Tableau Charlevoix Funding Dashboard was created to promote transparency and accountability toward the pledges made and visualizes funding flows from donors and funding partners to regions, countries, and implementing partners, as well as information on project focus areas, population groups served, and highlighted projects.
objectives
Synthesize data on the Charlevoix Declaration Commitments and funding pledges through interviews with donors and implementers.
Create a Tableau dashboard that showcases pledges made, funding distribution streams, and project details.
Activities
Inception activities: Informed International, in consultation with INEE stakeholders, developed a framework for collecting data from country donors and review process for the associated Reference Group.
Data collection: Data template was sent to all donors for completion and interviews conducted with all donor representatives to answer questions about the purpose of the data collection and clarify best practices for reporting.
Data visualization: Results were visualized using Tableau in four languages - English, Arabic, French, and Spanish.
